Part of getting over it
is knowing
that you will never get over it.
-Anne FingerIf we want things to stay as they are,
things will have to change.
-Giuseppe di LampedusaMost people are about as happy
as they make up their minds to be.-Abraham Lincoln
These are the words I carry in my heart this weekend.
I am not good at forgetting, letting go of things. I am comforted by the notion that I do not necessarily need to forget, so much as move on.
I think the di Lampedusa applies to many, many things today. I’ll probably be trotting that one out quite a bit.
I also hear the voice of my father:
“An elephant never forgets, but then,
what does an elephant need to remember?”
Thanks, Dad.
Do any of these speak to you?
Or do you have any good thoughts or quotes on memory, forgiveness, happiness?
