The least change in our point of view,
gives the world a pictorial air.

    -Ralph Waldo Emerson

I suspect I’ve used this quote before, but I’ve decided that’s OK. It’s one of my favorites and will withstand repeating.

I know I’ve posted about this spider before.
He lives outside my daughter’s bedroom window and is known in our household as “Facebutt”:

Not the most beautiful face, but my, what a lovely home.

I’m feeling a bit quiet today. It’s chilly, I was away from my computer all weekend (I have nearly 300 items in my reader and a fair amount of email that I’m ignoring for now), and I’m tired- such a bummer to start the week off tired.

I think maybe I’ll make up a pot of tea, turn on some music, and do a bit of decorating for fall. Or, maybe I’ll indulge myself and just sit and read curled up in an afghan.

How do you get going on days you just want to fritter away?

Still at friend’s house. Still painting. Still phoning it in.

Assassin bug. Oddest looking bug I’ve come across to date. He bites. Don’t touch.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend—

Life is a series of surprises,
and would not be worth taking or keeping
    if it were not.

    -Ralph Waldo Emerson

I slept in this morning, got out of bed at a glorious 7:30, didn’t feel like putting on shoes, so Cass said she would take a picture for “the computer”.

And lo and behold, for your viewing pleasure, a very creepy picture of her twin babies, Estelle and Estelle 2. In focus, though. I’m impressed. A budding photographer in the family?

We’ve been spending a fair amount of time lately with our friends in Philadelphia, who have an eight month old baby (or as Cass says, zero years old), and so she has renewed her interest in the Estelle sisters. They have been resurrected from the bottom of the toy basket, where they had languished for over a year.

Estelle and Estelle 2 are fed, read to, scolded, taken outside to play hopscotch, and in desperate need of baths.

I was never one for dolls, and the boys never did this sort of “out-loud” fantasy play, at least not in my presence, so I find the whole business fascinating.

The scenarios are very specific and elaborate and take up large chunks of time, which works out nicely for me. I love to overhear the creative moods at work, but at the same time I feel like I am trespassing, intruding on something very personal and magical.

And so I give her time and space and I attempt not to eavesdrop. It’s hard, though. I keep wanting to interrupt and tell her how darned cute she is.

    We’re off to paint!

What are you up to this weekend?

    Oh! I almost forgot–

Click here for a coupon good for $5 off a purchase of $20 or more today at Walgreens. I used mine to buy a big bottle of Dr. Bronner’s Peppermint Castille Soap, a box of Seventh Generation powder for the dishwasher, and a 5 lb. bag of Domino sugar for $1.99 (coupon in circular). Stuff I would have needed to buy anyway, but at a generous discount- buying “green” does not have to cost more if you plan ahead!
