I’ve been thinking and talking a lot about finding your voice; how someone needs to step up and speak out.
I said that we don’t necessarily need a JFK, a Martin Luther King, or a Gandhi; what we need is a voice in the darkness. An inspiration.
I don’t know, can Al Gore be that voice? I thought no.
But I intended to watch only a few seconds of this speech and stayed on for all 27 minutes of it. ( I admit the strange shout-out to will.i.am was the hook that initially reeled me in.)
I came away all kinds of fired up. I wanted to go out and be the change.
Then the cynic in me wondered, was this speech motivated by the threat of offshore drilling? The politics of the economy? Or by the possibility of VP-hood?
I know Gore has insisted he does not want to be vice president again; is he just being coy?
Does it matter? Maybe the important thing is to have someone in a position of authority calling for drastic and actionable change. And then following through.
Give it a watch if you haven’t already and let me know what you think.
