Do you think it’s on account of all the money they’re getting from oil companies to run their commercial? You know, the one with people walking across a clean, white background with photos of trees, flowers, and other “green” things, planting the misleading notion that offshore drilling is good for the environment?
Certainly, I hope that America is too smart to fall for that marketing ploy, but really, ABC, let’s be fair and even-handed, shall we? Let all sides speak?
Here’s the text from the We Campaign commercial:
The solution to our climate crisis seems simple.
Repower America with wind and solar.
End our dependence on foreign oil. A stronger economy.
So why are we still stuck with dirty and expensive energy?
Because big oil spends hundreds of millions of dollars to block clean energy.
Lobbyists, ads, even scandals.
All to increase their profits, while America suffers.
Breaking big oil’s lock on our government …
Now that’s change.
We’re the American people and we approve this message.
Watch the ad here, and if you’d like to see it air during 20/20, leave a comment for ABC.
Also, while you’re on the site, take a moment to learn more about the We Campaign,
a project of The Alliance for Climate Protection — a nonprofit, nonpartisan effort founded by Nobel laureate and former Vice President Al Gore. The goal of the Alliance is to build a movement that creates the political will to solve the climate crisis — in part through repowering America with 100 percent of its electricity from clean energy sources within 10 years.
After all, if not us, who?
If not now, when?

Robin, excellent post. In fact, yesterday I wrote something about needing a new generation of community builders. (www.tolivelocal.blogspot.com) How is it done? Coming together to fix a shared problem.
