These are the words I carry in my heart this weekend.
I am not good at forgetting, letting go of things. I am comforted by the notion that I do not necessarily need to forget, so much as move on.
I think the di Lampedusa applies to many, many things today. I’ll probably be trotting that one out quite a bit.
I also hear the voice of my father:
“An elephant never forgets, but then,
what does an elephant need to remember?”
