A Little Boredom is Good for You

The life of the creative man is lead, directed and controlled by boredom.
Avoiding boredom is one of our most important purposes.

-Saul Steinberg

The ongoing caption for this photo is “Tell my kids to go out and play and what do they do? Build a snow couch and watch snow TV.”

Know why? They said they were bored. So I kicked ’em out the door.
They resisted. There’s nothing to do, they said.
I believe a little boredom is good for you. Makes you think. Makes you band together to pull a good one on Mommy. Makes for good photo ops.
Have a lovely weekend… hope it’s boring enough for you to come up with something good.

I love this! Did they tell you they were building the sofa/tv or did they sruprise you? And I totally agree…a little boredom is so important for all of us, actually.

I haven't been bored in ages! There's always soooo much to do when I'm bored. Things to read/watch/knit/create. Maybe I need to institute some boredom in my life…
