One word expresses the pathway to greatness: voice.

Those on this path find their voice

and inspire others to find theirs.

You can achieve anything you want in life

if you have the courage to dream it,

the intelligence to make a realistic plan,

and the will to see that plan through to the end.

    There will come a time

when you believe everything is finished.

    That will be the beginning.

I received several concerned emails this morning, to the general effect of, where the heck have you been? Are you all right? And for that I thank you, I didn’t expect anyone to notice if I went quiet for a bit.

The truth of the matter is, I have been holding my breath; hoping against hope for a better tomorrow, daring to dream, but not wanting to jinx anything.

Today I voted and I feel a huge burden has been lifted from my shoulders, but I am still waiting to exhale. When all is said and done, I will be able to breathe again, and reassert my voice. Until then, like so many others, I’m glued to my TV set. Fingers crossed. Waiting to exhale.

And yet, it is only the beginning.

As my pal David Letterman says, I wouldn’t have his troubles for a monkey on a rock. What a job to take on. What a mess to fix. I can only hope and pray that eveyone’s enthusiasm and dedication and support bravely soldiers on into the rough times ahead.

That’s all for now. See you tomorrow, bright and early.

I would rather sit on a pumpkin
and have it all to myself,
than be crowded on a velvet cushion.

    -Henry David Thoreau

More Halloween pictures and quotes than you could possibly ever want or need later on in the day- right now I have parties to attend, parades to see! Happy Halloween!

    Don’t judge each day
    by the harvest you reap,

but by the seeds you plant.

    -Robert Louis Stevenson

I am finding it harder to locate interesting things in the yard to photograph, as the leaves cover everything in a blanket of yellow and brown. No flowers, no bugs. The spiders have gone undercover.

This was a branch with a seedpod that Cassidy was carrying around while I was looking into trees and overturning rocks; she left it in a spot of sun on the porch and when we returned to the house, the seed pod had “blossomed” in the sunshine.

Somehow, I found that to be beautiful, and a source of hope.

Halloween tomorrow! The end of October already. Where do the hours and days go?
