Still at friend’s house. Still painting. Still phoning it in.

Assassin bug. Oddest looking bug I’ve come across to date. He bites. Don’t touch.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend—

Life is a series of surprises,
and would not be worth taking or keeping
    if it were not.

I slept in this morning, got out of bed at a glorious 7:30, didn’t feel like putting on shoes, so Cass said she would take a picture for “the computer”.

And lo and behold, for your viewing pleasure, a very creepy picture of her twin babies, Estelle and Estelle 2. In focus, though. I’m impressed. A budding photographer in the family?

We’ve been spending a fair amount of time lately with our friends in Philadelphia, who have an eight month old baby (or as Cass says, zero years old), and so she has renewed her interest in the Estelle sisters. They have been resurrected from the bottom of the toy basket, where they had languished for over a year.

Estelle and Estelle 2 are fed, read to, scolded, taken outside to play hopscotch, and in desperate need of baths.

I was never one for dolls, and the boys never did this sort of “out-loud” fantasy play, at least not in my presence, so I find the whole business fascinating.

The scenarios are very specific and elaborate and take up large chunks of time, which works out nicely for me. I love to overhear the creative moods at work, but at the same time I feel like I am trespassing, intruding on something very personal and magical.

And so I give her time and space and I attempt not to eavesdrop. It’s hard, though. I keep wanting to interrupt and tell her how darned cute she is.

    We’re off to paint!

What are you up to this weekend?

    Oh! I almost forgot–

Click here for a coupon good for $5 off a purchase of $20 or more today at Walgreens. I used mine to buy a big bottle of Dr. Bronner’s Peppermint Castille Soap, a box of Seventh Generation powder for the dishwasher, and a 5 lb. bag of Domino sugar for $1.99 (coupon in circular). Stuff I would have needed to buy anyway, but at a generous discount- buying “green” does not have to cost more if you plan ahead!

  • Yay! It’s Friday.

    The poet’s habit of living
should be set on a key so low that
the common influences should delight him.

    His cheerfulness should be
    the gift of the sunlight;
the air should suffice for his inspiration,
and he should be tipsy with water.

Um, I’m phoning it in today. I have a little bit of a CNN hangover. Sooooo tired.

Although, I do like this quote quite a lot. I love the notion of being drunk with life. A sort of photosynthesis, transforming the sun’s warmth into contentedness and good cheer.

So! For the most part, I thought last night’s debate was ho-hum, pretty much what I expected.

Except for one second where I sat bolt upright and asked my husband, “Did you just see that? Did that woman just wink at me?”

Yuck. I do not approve of winking. At all. Made me feel dirty.

Oh, I liked when Sarah Palin inadvertently said McCain will “leave” and then quickly corrected herself with “lead”. Ha!

I need to think more about what I saw before I totally go off about it.

Did you watch last night’s debate? What did you think? In particular, I’d like to know what non-Delawareans think of Biden!
