Life itself is a bubble and a scepticism,
and a sleep within a sleep.

A man that is born falls into a dream
like a man who falls into the sea.

“Oh, I’ve had such a curious dream!” said Alice…
    got up and ran off,
thinking while she ran, as well she might,
what a wonderful dream it had been.

    The man who said,
“The harder the toil, the sweeter the rest”,
    never was profoundly tired.

    -John Muir

Oh, my ears and whiskers, I am profoundly tired. Tomorrow my plans include a lot of sleeping, quite a bit of curious dreaming, and perhaps I can pencil in some naps during the down-time.

Funny, I started this post thinking about bubbles. I’m really that exhausted, all I can think about is burrowing in and blessed rest.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone. Sleep well. Dream a little dream of me.

  • I Love David Letterman

I want to be David Letterman, have I mentioned that?

I have to get up at 4:45 a.m. these days so I don’t see him as much as I like to- I don’t see 9:00 p.m. as much as I’d like to- but I came across this video of him going off on the topics of global warming, leadership, and alternative energy:

Good for you, Dave! Way to get noisy!

  • That Sedum Must Be Delicious

    Nothing great was ever achieved
    without enthusiasm.

There is some serious greatness happening in my sedum, because these are some crazy enthusiastic bees. Busy, busy, busy. Grubbing down. It’s exhausting to watch.

I can’t get over the bees’ tongues! I only just discovered this year that bees even had tongues. Stupid, I know, but I never really thought about it.

This isn’t sedum, I don’t even know if it’s a weed or what. But here’s another shot of my favorite (for now) bug- the beautifully colored green metallic sweat bee- click on the picture to see the colors close up.

And here he is alongside a normal-sized bumble bee. Look how tiny! All that craftmanship and loveliness bestowed upon such a small thing. The wonder of the universe.

    Where the telescope ends,
    the microscope begins.

Which of the two has the grander view?

    -Victor Hugo
