Don’t ask yourself what the world needs,
ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and do that.
Because what the world needs
is people who have come alive.
-Harold Whitman
What makes me come alive?
- dancing to music from my teenage years
- Bob Dylan lyrics and JD Salinger stories
- being outside, esp. out of earshot of cars and my cellphone
- seeing my kids do funny things
- painting with watercolors, even though I’m no good at it
- discussing how important it is to foster a lifetime love of learning- everything else falls easily into place when you have this
- creation, in all its forms
- technicolor hair- is 32 too old to have purple hair? How about 31 and 10 months?
- collage
- a book. Any book, really. Even the dictionary.
- Holding other people’s babies (that there is my husband; we eventually returned these babies to their rightful parents)
- Movies starring either of the Hepburns
- old radio routines- Abbott & Costello, Fibber McGee & Molly
- making costumes (technically falls under creation, but I really really like making costumes)
- three inch heels
- Doc Marten boots
- group projects
- being with friends
- making lists!
I could go on all day,
but I have a vague sense that I am embarrassing myself.
However, I am now in a super mood!
What makes you come alive?
Tell me all about it!
